Rs 25,000 crore for “Grama Jyothi”: CM to announce on Aug. 15

Hyderabad: Giving boost to rural development through timely release of adequate funds, Chief Minister K Chadrasekhar Rao has taken a decision to implement a new scheme christened “Grama Jyothi”, according to informed sources.

The scheme is likely to be announced on Independence Day August 15. The scheme will take wings on that day when KCR makes an official announcement. A whopping Rs 25,000 crore will be spent on implementing the scheme over five years for all-round village development. The Chief Minister was planning to conduct a district Collectors’ conference on July 30 to prepare a comprehensive plan of action. KCR is learnt to have taken a decision to spend huge funds for the speedy development of the villages which will connect districts through mandal headquarters. Based on the population of major grama panchayats and villages, the government will release Rs 2 cr to 6 cr for taking up the works related to basic amenities and better connectivity.

The decision comes at a time when Panchayat Raj Minister K T Rama Rao held a review meeting with the officials for rural development. Thus, the villages are most likely to get a facelift in terms of water, power, education, health, better roads and other facilities to the people. (NSS)
