Rs. 355 Cr. released for Minority Welfare, Rs. 245 Cr. spent

Some new schemes have been suggested to the government for Minority Welfare in Telangana and it is likely that some new schemes will be introduced by the Minority Welfare from next financial year. This year the government had allocated Rs. 1130 Cr. for Minority Welfare of which Rs 335 Cr have been released while Rs 245 Cr. have been spent so far on various schemes including Rs 100 Cr. for Shaadi Mubarak Scheme.

Speaking to Siasat on Tuesday, Secretary Minority Welfare of Telangana, Syed Omer Jaleel briefed the details of budget disbursement and new schemes. He told that after the bifurcation of the state, the Minority Welfare Department performed well despite lack of staff. Syed Omer Jaleel admitted that there were some loopholes in implementation of schemes however he was trying to plug them.

He further said that soon services of 10-member staff from Urdu academy and Hajj Committee would be obtained. Presently the number of permanent staff in Hyderabad District Minority Welfare Office is 2. Apart from that there is no permanent Minority Welfare officer in all the 7 districts including Hyderabad. Chief Minister has promised to appoint 250 employees.
