Rs 7 crore released for Bonalu arrangements in city: GHMC

GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy today said Rs seven crore has been sanctioned for arrangements for Bonalu festival in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The Commissioner reviewed arrangements  and progress of works with GHMC zonal commissioners and Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy. He said 500 additional sanitation workers have been deputed in various areas in view of Bonali festival and services of six mobile toilets are being taken. The Commissioner said there would be a ban on using plastic bags from August 1 under GHMC limits.

            City Police Commissioner said all security arrangements have been made to conduct Bonalu festival peacefully with the deployment of 3,000 police personnel. The police department was working in coordination with other departments. He said 100 CC cameras have been set up on the Bonalu procession routes. There would be SHE teams and anti-snatching chain squads, he said and appealed to people not to believe rumors being spread through social media and contact police official concerned for confirmation of any rumor.
