Trying to inculcate confidence among handloom workers and weavers community, Handlooms and Textiles Minister KT Rama Rao today stated that the TRS Government will purchase their product through a buy back policy and offer them right price and better livelihood in near future.
KTR launched “Chenethaku Cheyutha” at the world noted Bhudan Pochampally along with Ministers Eatala Rajender, Jogu Ramanna, G Jagadish Reddy and others. Wooing the handloom workers and weavers of all the help, KTR exhorted them to focus on the changes in Fashion Design sector and come up with innovative and very attractive designs for their sustainable development. Though the government is adopting multi-pronged strategy to develop this sector the opposition leaders are making false comments only for mileage.
The previous Congress and TD governments ignored the handloom sector that was collapsed in the long run. With total understanding and aware of the problems and difficulties of the handloom workers Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed to launch the “Chenethaku Cheyutha” (Helping hand to Handloom). We have allotted Rs 75 cr for this program he said and announced that 30000 persons will benefit from the scheme now. Stating that the government allotted Rs 1283 cr in the budget for the cause of the handloom sector and welfare of the weavers, KTR said that to get international market for our handlooms the Government has appointed the noted Cine Actress Samantha as brand ambassador for wide ranging publicity.
The scheme will help the handloom workers and weavers with 18 years age and beyond by offering production material on 50 per cent of subsidy yarn, chemicals and others. The minister maintained that we have asked the officials concerned to wear handloom clothes every Monday to encourage the handloom industry growth.
Efforts are being made to see that public come and make purchases from Pochampally other areas wherein some Handloom clusters will come up including Narayanapet, Gadwal, he said. He also said that Rs 30 cr will be spent to set up an Apparel Park at Siricilla and KCR will inaugurate soon the mega Textile Park in Warangal. Stating that GST regime should not hamper state interests, KTR said that he will urge again the Centre to waive GST to Handloom sector by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
Rajender said that the previous governments ignored the weavers and to continue Thrift Fund and the TRS Government aware of their problems is now launching the scheme to help them in a big way. Ramanna said that the government which focused on BCs development is helping the handloom workers with a new scheme. Jagadish Reddy said that KCR and KTR discussed on weavers problems and came up with new scheme to create confidence among the weavers and give a new lease of life. (NSS)
