Rumour of Modi Owaisi meeting a clear case of yellow journalism, says BJP

New Delhi, Sept. 18 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader MJ Akbar slammed a national daily here on Friday, for publishing the news that Prime Minister Narendra Modi met All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi, saying that this was an example of ‘yellow journalism’ and they will sue the daily seeking ‘heavy’ damages.

“This is an absolute fabrication and a case of yellow journalism. It is proof that the opposition is conspiring against us by using lies. It is sad that there are some elements of the media that are involved in this and this is the example of yellow journalism at its worst,” Akbar told the media here.

He also stated that not only does the BJP condemn this news but will also take legal action against the publication for carrying out the story.

“We will file a defamation case and seek heavy damages against the yellow newspaper. Our legal team is examining our options,” Akbar said.

A national daily had published a report earlier saying Prime Minister Modi had a meeting with Owaisi, which spawned angry reactions from political parties.

“I want Prime Minister Modi and MIM chief Owaisi to tell the nation about the secret of their meeting. Was the meeting focused at defeating the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar or was it focused to uplift the minorities in the state?” JD (U) leader K C Tyagi told ANI here. (ANI)
