Rumours of beef eating kills 50-year-old Muslim near Delhi

Dadri: Mohammad Akhlaq (50) was allegedly beaten to death and his son (22) injured severely on last Monday night in Dadri village of UP near Delhi by the natives of Bisara village when they got the rumours spread by the local temple that the family has eaten beef and stored it.

Police arrested six people in connection with this incident which occurred 45 km from Delhi. When the mob protested damaging vehicles and injuring a 20-year-old welder, police opened fire.
According to police sources, samples of meat taken from Akhlaq’s home was sent to Forensics Department for tests. Ms. Sajida, daughter of Aklaq mentioned that it was mutton which was kept in refrigerator and not beef.
Mr. N.P. Singh, District Magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar told that police have been deployed in the area and the situation has been brought under control.
Sajida mentioned that a mob consisting of 100 people attacked her house on Monday night. They broke the doors of the house and alleged that cow meat was kept in the house. They dragged her father outside the house and beat him with bricks.

SSP informed that a murder and rioting case has been registered against 10 persons and 6 persons were arrested. The attackers include Gaurav, Sandeep, Rupendra, Sri Om, Vivek and Saurav. They are the resident of Bisara village which is in the vicinity of Delhi.

Narendra alleged that his brother Rahul Yadav was injured by the bullet fired by the police. However, Senior police officials contested Narendra’s statement.
