Saharanpur: BJP MLA charged with violence

A BJP MP was booked for violence, along with its functionary on Doodhli Sadak at Saharanpur on Friday. He was also charged with vandalism at the SSP’s house.

According to a news by Indian Express, the case was booked against MP Raghav Lakhanpal and twenty-three other people, after a clash happened between two communities over a procession of B. R Ambedkar.

Sahanpur’s SSP, Luv Kumar informed that the FIR has been registered again 24 people along with MP Raghav Lakhanpal, MLA Brijesh and BJP’s Saharanpur city president Amit Gagneja. The FIR includes 16 people of one community and 12 of the other, and 200 unidentified people for creating violence.

In Another FIR, 11 people are charged with violence along with Raghav Lakhanpal and 200 unidentified people. However, police are trying to identify the mob.

Both FIRs have been filed under many IPC sections, these include 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of the offence committed in prosecution of common object) and 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty).
