Sydney : Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal produced a rich vein of form as she marched into her first final of the season after hammering China’s Wang Yihan in the women’s singles event of the Australian Open Super Series here on Saturday.
Seventh seed Saina, who is eyeing her maiden title of the season, registered a 21-8, 21-12 victory over fourth seed Yihan in a one-sided semi-final contest that lasted half an hour.
With the win, Saina has now set up a summit showdown against China’s Sun Yu, who made it to the finals after beating her fellow countrywoman LI Xuerui 21-18, 21-19.
Meanwhile, in men’s singles event, Kidambi Srikanth suffered a major blow as he knocked out of the tournament after going down 20-22, 13-21 to Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark. (ANI)
