Shah Alam (Malaysia): Ace Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and P V Sindhu produced contrasting performances to advance to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open in the women’s singles event here on Thursday.
Saina, who slipped to number eighth in the latest rankings after failing to defend her India Open Super Series title last week, defeated Korean Bae Yeon Ju 21-10, 21-16 in the second round contest that lasted 32 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Sindhu, the two-time bronze medallist at World Championship, overcame a gritty challenge from Sung Ji Hyun to claim a 22-20, 21-17 win over the seventh seed Korean opponent. (ANI)
