Salman case: New case ‘paper-book’ ready

Mumbai: A revised paper-book pertaining to the 2002 accident case involving Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is ready and was submitted to the Bombay High Court here on Friday.

The new paper-book – a compilation of the documentary evidences, lower court orders and verdict, and other papers – was prepared by the high court registry under directions of Justice A.R. Joshi.

The matter was adjourned till next Tuesday as defence lawyers sought time to study it.

Justice Joshi is presently hearing Salman’s appeal against the May 6 sessions court verdict sentencing him to five years in jail for the accident in Bandra in the early hours of September 28, 2002 in which one pavement dweller was killed and four others injured. Shortly after the verdict, Salman was granted bail by the high court.

The actor’s lawyer Amit Desai had raised objections twice to two paper-books prepared earlier on grounds that certain critical documents pertaining to the case were missing.
