Samsung to produce Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor

New Delhi : South Korean tech giant Samsung has announced the mass production of chips using the second generation of its 14nm process.

The new technology will power both the company’s own Exynos 8 Octa processor and that of Qualcomm, the American global semiconductor company that designs and markets wireless telecommunications products.

According to The Verge, the Snapdragon 820 will be manufactured by Samsung, using the new 14nm LPP process and will arrive in new handsets in the first half 2016.

“Our decision to choose a specific process technology is based on its ability to meet our design goals for performance, power efficiency and yield,” a Qualcomm spokesperson said.

However, Samsung declined to comment on whether the Snapdragon processor would also be designed into Samsung’s phones including the upcoming Galaxy S7. (ANI)
