Sand artist Patnaik marks 69th Independence Day with unique creation on Puri beach

Puri (Odisha), Aug.15 : Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik created a unique sculpture on the shore of the Puri beach in Odisha on the occasion of India’s 69th Independence Day.

Paying tribute to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Patnaik created a tricolor with a message of peace, freedom and democracy.

“I like it very much, just discovered that it’s India’s Independence Day, and I think, it’s beautiful and really nice. Happy Independence day India, Jai Hind,” said a French tourist.

India achieved its Independence on August 15, 1947, ending more than 200 years of British rule.

On this day holiday is observed throughout India with flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and cultural events. Citizens of India celebrate the day by displaying the national flag on their attire, accessories and homes; by listening to patriotic songs, watching patriotic movies; and bonding with family and friends.
