Unaware Saudi man arrested for flying gay flag

A Saudi doctor was arrested by authorities for flying a rainbow pride flag above his home, “unaware” of its homosexual symbolism

According to reports the doctor bought the flag online which he installed on a three-foot pole above his house Jeddah, after one of his children found the colours “pretty” and had no idea it represented LGBT pride.

Saudi Arabia’s religious police, known as the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, arrested the man but later released him on bail after he agreed to remove the flag.

Saudi citizens live under Sharia, which prohibits homosexuality. The penalties for same-sex relationships run from chemical castration to execution.

The Saudi Arabia’s Bureau of Investigation has announced it is pushing to impose the death penalty for homosexuals who “solicit homosexual acts on social media.
