Jeddah: As per the survey which was conducted to find the views of the young girls of Saudi Arabia on the question “Do you prefer marriage with a married man?” on Twitter, 61% of Princess Nora University students support man’s right to marry more than one woman.
A question, “Do you prefer marriage with a married man?” was asked on Twitter with an options “Yes”, “No”, and “No Opinion”. The result of survey says that 61% the students said “Yes”, 30% said “No” and 9% preferred “No Opinion”.
Meanwhile this survey sparked a wide debate on Twitter among academics, writers, legal experts and others. Some of them opposes while other supports.
However, a professor at Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University said that multiple marriages in Islam is the right of men and in some cases, an obligation. He said that multiple marriages are Halal as per Islam. He also quoted the circumstance when it is obligatory for men to marry multiple women.
