SDMC to provide UPIC cards to 3.80 lakh tax payers

New Delh: In an attempt to boost property tax revenue and catch defaulters, South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) will provide laminated Unique Property Identification Code(UPIC) cards to the 3.80 lakh tax payers under its jurisdiction. “The UPIC cards bearing details of the property including old and revised property numbers will be provided to the existing 3.80 lakh tax payers under SDMC jurisdiction by the end of this year,” said Chairman of Standing Committee of the civic body. The laminated UPIC cards will help the tax payers to remember their property codes and filing tax returns, he said. The UPIC cards will also be provided with bar codes so that it could be linked with other services of the civic body. Initially the cards will be delivered through post and the charges will be borne by the corporation. However, later, it will included in the property tax bills.
In case of misplacing the UPIC card, a tax payer may apply for a duplicate one by paying Rs 50.
SDMC is also working on a link on its website for UPIC number and identity of properties in the municipal area. Later on, it will enable tax payers to see the details of tax payment by them through a click of the button, he added.
