Self employment scheme for minorities: applicants demand extension of date

Bank linked subsidy cum loan scheme is one of the initiatives for self employment of Minority youth. But the last date for submission of applications needs to be extended. Earlier the subsidy was 50 percent but the government modified the scheme and fixed the subsidy upto 60 to 80 percent.

Due to lack of awareness among the minorities regarding the scheme, a sudden surge in applicants is seen in the eleventh hour. The last date of online registration for the scheme provided by Minority Finance Corporation is February 15. 21000 applications have submitted the applications so far. Submission of online application has stepped up during the last two days. A heavy crowd of applicants is witnessed at the helpline centre set up by Siasat.

Applicants and NGOs have requested the government to extend the date of online submission for atleast one week. According to them preparation of certificates will take time as candidates have to make rounds of Tahsildar office to get income certificate and other certificates.
