Sena is only bargaining for more power: Danve

Raosaheb Danve

Nagpur: Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve today said the Shiv Sena was not capable of ousting his party from power in the state, and its threat to pull out of the alliance was only a bargaining tactic.

“We can give a befitting reply to the Sena in the same language as used by its leaders,” Danve said here.

As the Devendra Fadnavis government completed one year in the office today, war of words between BJP and Shiv Sena has intensified ahead of the civic polls in Kalyan-Dombivali and Kolhapur.

Yesterday the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had said his party would walk out of the alliance if “BJP continues its arrogance”.

Danve said Sena didn’t possess the power to topple the government. “It is the people who brought BJP to power and only they can unseat us,” he said, alleging that Sena was resorting to pressure tactics only to bargain for more berths in the state cabinet.

He also described the Sena leader and cabinet minister Eknath Shinde’s offer to resign as a mere drama.

Danve, who was here to meet the party workers on the occasion of first anniversary of government, expressed confidence that it would complete the five-year term.

The government had done substantial work in fields such as irrigation, he said.
