Send an all-party delegation to J&K, suggests Ashok Gehlot

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday said the NDA government should send an all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir to reach out to the people so that efforts could be made to restore normalcy.

“The Government should convene an all-party meeting and take the opposition into confidence regarding the latest situation and the steps taken to restore peace in the state (J&K),” the former Rajasthan Chief Minister said in a Facebook post.

“It would also be good to send an all-party delegation to J&K to reach out to the people. The effort should be to restore normalcy and to find a solution together, which is for the good of the people in the long run,” he added.

In the same post, Gehlot also slammed the government for not having any “concrete plan” to deal with the “volatile” situation in the Valley.

“The situation continues to remain volatile in Jammu and Kashmir, everything is close since 30 days due to curfew, still there is no end to demonstrations and protests. Also the government seems to have no concrete plan to deal with the rising unrest in the state,” said Gehlot.

The unrest in the Valley has been going on for over a month and has already claimed more than 55 lives.
