City Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy suspended seven policemen, including Inspector, for the alleged custodial death of a woman in Asifnagar Police Station on Sunday.
“The officers and staff of Asifnagar Police station have been placed under suspension with immediate effect in the interest of fair enquiry and investigation for exhibiting gross negligence and dereliction of duty in keeping a lady, Nakka Padam, at Asifnagar Police Station at odd hours which led to severe health complications and subsequently resulting in her death in the early morning of August 23, while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital,” the Commissioner said in a press release.
Those suspended include Inspector K.Srikanth, Sub-Inspector P. Hrushikesh, ASI SK.Chand Basha, Head Constable Mohd.Nadar Ali and Police Constables S.Prathap, Mohd. Khaja and Md.Manzoor Ahmed.
“During the suspension period the head quarters shall be City Armed Reserve (CAR) at Petlaburz and they shall not leave the headquarters without the prior permission of the Jt. CP. CAR Head Quarters,” the Commissioner said in his orders. (INN)
