Several districts reeling under flood in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Several districts in Uttar Pradesh are reeling under flood as incessant rain has wreaked havoc, crippling normal life and obstructing road transportation.

River Mandakini has flooded dozens of villages of Chitrakoot district where flood has also washed away roads at several places between Allahabad and Chitrakoot for the last four days.

The people are compelled to use boats in the Chitrakoot town streets which remained filled with flood water.

In view of serious flood conditions in the district, District Magistrate Chitrakoot Monika Rani has ordered closure of all schools for today.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are continuously engaged in the relief and rescue work.

On the other hand, the flood threat is also looming large in Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia and other districts due to continuous rise of river Ganga which has swelled to the dangerous levels at many places.
