Sex determination racket busted, two held

New Delhi: The District health authorities today busted a sex determination test racket being allegedly run from a mobile van with portable ultrasound machine near Haryana-Uttar Pradesh border and caught two persons red handed.

Acting on an information, a team under the supervision of Dr Vijay Dahiya and other doctors was constituted.

The team sent a decoy patient to the ultrasound operator who used to examine the pregnant women, most of whom came from Uttar Pradesh.

For revealing the sex of the foetus, the operator used to charge Rs 18,000 from the women, health department officials said.

The team caught Jassi and one other accused red handed and handed them over to police.

A case under relevant provisions of the law has been registered against the two accused, police said here.
