Shabbir Ali slams Asaduddin Owaisi for targeting Muslim IFS officer

Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly condemned MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi for targeting an honest Muslim IFS officer.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Shabbir Ali said that the Hyderabad MP has written a letter to Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma seeking dismissal of Minorities Welfare Department Director Mohammed Jalaluddin Akbar. He said MJ Akbar has gained good reputation by acting tough against encroachers of Wakf property. He had exposed several scams and irregularities committed by land grabbers and prevented misuse of Wakf properties. He acted tough against the Mutawallis who were selling away Muslim graveyard by charging up to Rs. 1-2 lakh for each burial, he said.

“Since MIM leaders love dishonest and corrupt officials and encourage land grabbers, rowdy sheeters and other anti-social elements, Asaduddin Owaisi lodged a complaint with the Chief Secretary seeking removal of MJ Akbar,” he said.

Shabbir Ali said that the MIM president demanded that the IFS officer be sacked for misusing 40 litres of diesel. He said the allegation was ridiculous as it does not amount to corruption or swindling of funds. He said it is common for the government to recover the cost of fuel or other charges if the senior officials or even VIPs are found to be using official vehicle for personal use occasionally. “There are hardly 6-7 Muslim All India Services (AIS) officers in the State. By targeting a Muslim officer for such a trivial reason, Asaduddin Owaisi has exposed the hollow claims of MIM being the representative party of Muslims,” he said.
