Shahid Afridi thanks Virat Kohli for ‘kind gesture’ after receiving signed bat for his foundation

New Delhi: Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was all in awe of Indian skipper Virat Kohli for donating a signed bat for the Shahid Afridi Foundation.

Afridi, widely regarded as one of the most dangerous batsmen to have played the game, took to social media to thank the Delhi batsman, who is known to be a philanthropist.

“Thank you @imVkohli for your kind gesture in support of @SAFoundationN. Friends & supporters like you ensure #HopeNotOut for everyone,” Afridi tweeted.

Kohli was quick to reply to Afridi’s tweet and also wished for the welfare of his charity.

“You’re most welcome Shahid Bhai.. Wishing you and the @SAFoundationN all the luck for the upcoming events. #HopeNotOut,” the 26-year-old tweeted.

Before the signed bat, Kohli and co gifted a signed jersey to Afridi after he retired from the international cricket in April.

The shirt, which fetched Rs 3 lakhs at an auction in London, had a message from the Team India captain, saying, “To Shahid Bhai, best wishes, always a pleasure playing against you.

The jersey had the signatures of Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, R Ashwin, Hardik Pandya, and coach Ravi Shastri.

At a time when the cricket fans have been deprived of quality cricketing action due to the ongoing political tension between the two countries, the cricketers are winning hearts with their wonderful camaraderie off the field.

Pakistan recently stunned the Men in Blue in the final of ICC Champions Trophy to lift their maiden title in the coveted tournament.
