Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to be elected as interim PM of Pakistan

Islamabad: The much-awaited decision of the next Prime Minister of Pakistan after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified from holding the public office and was directed to step down as Pakistan’s PM by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Former Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will soon be appointed as an interim PM of Pakistan until the next PM is elected.

The Pakistan SC directed the court to file corruption charges against Nawaz Shareef and his family members after their names have come forward in the Panama Paper leaks, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was also disqualified from his role and for his alleged involvement with the case.

Shahid Khaqan will run the government as interim PM of Pakistan until Nawaz Sharif’s successor his brother Shahbaz is elected as PM after his he becomes a member of the Parliament.

According to the sources, Shahbaz has been elected as the most likely candidate eligible to be the next PM during the session ruling by the PML-N. Shahbaz will be elected as the next PM after an interim PM serves the role for the 45 days period.
