The Shamshabad police of Ranga Reddy district have summoned Vijayawada 25th Ward corporator Ummadi Venkateshwar Rao alias Chantibabu to appear before them in connection with his alleged misbehaviour with a co-lady passenger in a flight recently.
Responding to police call, Venkateshwar Rao sought two days’ time to appear before them and cooperate in the investigation. He told the police he would bring his advocate to complete all formalities. As the news spread that Chantibabu was likely to be taken into custody on Wednesday, a large number of his followers and party leaders gathered at his house creating a high drama.
Though the corporator had got some respite from police action at the time of the complaint by the lady with the intervention of a local MP, the police registered a case against Venkateshwar Rao and asked him to surrender before them. (NSS)
