Sheep distribution from June 20: Talasani

Minister for Animal Husbandry T Srinivas Yadav today said that sheep rearing scheme will be implemented from June 20across the state by selecting beneficiaries in a lottery method. At an official meeting with district collectors here he said that membership through enrollment will be conducted from May 1 to 10 and beneficiaries with membership in cooperative associations will be selected under lottery method from May 10 to 20 by paying Rs 51. In the first phase about 2 lakhs of families, 50 per cent beneficiaries will be distributed with 20 plus one sheep and a ram as part of the sheep rearing scheme. Officials were asked to identify lands for growing grass for the sheep from May 20 till the end of the month. While Collectors will monitor the scheme at district level, a three-member team comprising Tahasildar, MPDO and Veterniary officer will monitor the same at the mandal level. He also said that towards fishermen development the government has dropped 27 crores of fish seed into the lakes in villages and this time 40 crores of fish need he said. He asked the officials and associations to give membership for Gangaputras and Mudirajs for availing of the scheme and benefit.(NSS)
