Shooter of Anil Pahalwan gang arrested

New Delhi: A 23-year-old man, allegedly one of the shooters of the Anil Pahalwan gang, has been arrested police said today.

Pradeep alias Gulab Pandit was arrested from Kanjhawla-Karala road here on March 27 while he was driving a stolen car, DCP (Crime) Bhisham Singh said.

A 9-mm SAF carbine with two magazines and 14 live cartridges was recovered from his possession.

The accused was planning to kill a gas agency owner from Najafgarh on the instructions of the gang leaders lodged in jail, he said.

The gang leader, Anil Pahalwan alias Ganja, is currently lodged in jail in a MCOCA case of Crime Branch and even his fellow gangsters — Shakti alias Sharda, Ghanshyam alias Kimi along with others are also imprisoned.

“The gangsters, who are already in jail, hatched a conspiracy to kill Anil Kumar, owner of Ram Gas Agency in Najafgarh as he was not paying the ransom amount to them despite attacks on him.

“In order to execute their plan, they hired two shooters from UP of the Kaushal Gang of Gurgaon and instructed Pradeep to join them,” Singh said.

One of the other gang member Pradeep Babloo came out of jail about a week ago and was in touch with the arrested accused.

However, their plan was foiled with this arrest.

Pradeep is previously involved in two lodged by Haryana Police. He was arrested first in 2014 by Bahadurgarh Police under the Arms Act along with one of his associates and later in 2016, the DCP said.

Efforts are being made to trace the source of the recovered SAF carbine, he said.
