Shutdown by Maoist faction cripples normal life in Nepal’s Chitwan

Chitwan (Nepal) : Normal life in Nepal’s Chitwan district has been affected due to a shutdown imposed by Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal- Maoist on Friday.

While the short- route vehicles stayed off the roads, educational institutions, markets and shops pulled down their shutters.

Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Chitwan, said the security personnel escorted some long-route vehicles to their respective destinations this morning, reports the Himalayan Times.

The Maoist group has called the shutdown in Mechi and Karnali provinces to protest against the arrest of its cadres from Jhapa, Jumla and Dhading. (ANI)
