Signature drive of students only to open govt eyes: TPCC chief

TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has stated that his party has taken up signature campaign of students with regard to fees reimbursement only to open the eyes of the ruling TRS party.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Uttam said the students were worried over the fees reimbursement arrears. The Congress was reviewing the signature campaign taken up by it from students and farmers. He said he will receive suggestions and advices from the party leaders on new DCC executive selection till January 8. He also revealed that the party would organise thanksgiving meetings in a big way on the birth day of AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi on December 9.

Uttam said the Congress party was expressing deep sorrow on the demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha. Jayalalitha played a key role not only in Tamil Nadu politics but also at national level. Jayalalitha introduced several welfare schemes for the sake of poor. She made several laws to eradicate child deaths, he recalled. (NSS)
