Sir Syed Day by Aligarh Old Boys Association

If we read the Quran with understanding and also to act upon it will help eradicate many social evils. Quran has placed us as the givers and not the takers but we are forced to beg these days. Today we spend lakhs of rupees on the education of our children but we do not realize that in our vicinity there are many orphan children and young widows who do not have resources even to get bread and hence it is impossible for them to get educated. By reading Quran, we come to understand that those who accumulated wealth and spend it on luxuries, neglecting the destitute, meet with strong punishment. These thoughts were expressed by Dr. Mohammed Aslam Parvaiz, Vice Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Sir Syed’s 199th birthday celebrations organized by Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association of Hyderabad at Urdu Hall Himayath Nagar on 3rd December. Quoting the message of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Dr. Parveez told that the need of the day for the Muslims is to read Quran with comprehension. It is a guideline for the entire humanity. Mr. Asif Pasha, former Law Minister of A.P. and President of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association presided over the function. Mr. Sajjad Shahid, Secretary of the association conducted the meeting. Present on this occasion were Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Shakaib, Dr. Akbar Ali Khan, Mr. Hamid Mohammed Khan etc. Mr. Ahsan Raza, IPS, Home Secretary, Govt. of A.P. in his address told that Sir Syed Movement is meant to educate the Muslims of India. Many persons made an attempt to become Sir Syed but they forgot the sacrifices made by him. (Photo: Zabi)
