Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Thursday said the Skoch awards won by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) would motivate the retirement fund body to launch more e-governance services for its members.

“Congratulating EPFO for the 5th award in the last two years, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya expressed hope that this will motivate EPFO to launch further e-governance initiatives for the welfare of various stakeholders,” an official statement said.

EPFO bagged the two Skoch awards for “smart governance for its initiatives on Universal Account Number (UAN) programmr and transformation of social security agenda in India”, it added.

UAN is a portable number through which the members can get the details of their provident fund Aaccount online.

“EPFO has not only moved to e-governance but beyond, launching various mobile apps for the use of the stakeholders — for employers, pensioners as well as the EPFO subscribers,” Dattatreya said.
