Sourav Ganguly voices support for day-night Tests

Mumbai: Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has backed day-nights Tests and believes that they could help revive the dwindling interest in the iconic format of the game.

“It is a must. Day-night test cricket is going to happen in India soon. I don’t see it being too far away from being played in India,” said Ganguly, the current president of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

“Test cricket is the best form of the game. For any cricketer, that is the ultimate challenge and judgement of player’s ability and reputation. It needs a bit of innovation and I think day-night cricket is the best way forward,” he added following the appointment of Anurag Thakur as the BCCI’s new president.

The Virat Kohli-led side are hoping to play their first-ever twilight Test with pink ball against New Zealand later this year.

Ganguly also expressed faith in Anurag Thakur, saying that the newly-appointed BCCI president will carry forward the legacy of his predecessor and will help the country’s cricket reach new heights. (ANI)
