Hyderabad: A court here on Wednesday sent a South African woman, arrested at the Hyderabad airport with narcotics concealed in her body, to judicial custody.
Police produced Mosiea Moosa, 32, in the 8th metropolitan court, after she was discharged from Osmania Hospital, where doctors recovered 52 latex-covered cocaine capsules. The court sent her to judicial custody for 14 days.
The woman who came from Dubai on Sunday concealed the narcotic substance in her belly and urogenital tract. She was given laxatives to naturally extract the pouches over the last three days.
Doctors said the South African woman was in stable condition. Officials of the Narcotics Control Board (NCB) escorted the woman from the hospital to the court.
The NCB will now move a petition to seek custody of the woman to identify others involved in the drugs racket. She will be questioned about the people for whom she brought the drugs.
Mosiea was arrested by NCB officials at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport soon after she arrived from Dubai. She was posing as being pregnant but on questioning and scanning and other medical tests, it was revealed that she had concealed the drugs in her body.
Investigations revealed that the woman carried 793 grams of cocaine capsules inside her body from Sao Paulo in Brazil and landed in Dubai on August 29 before catching a flight to Hyderabad the next day.
A resident of Johannesburg, she spent 35 hours without water and food.
According to NCB officials, she was just a carrier and was told by her handlers that a man will receive her at the airport with a code word and will take her to a hotel, where she had to stay for a week and take out the drugs by defecation.
