Speed up Water Grid works: CM

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today underscored the need for expeditious completion of the flagship schemes of Water Grid and irrigation projects in the State.

The Chief Minister conducted a high-level conference with officials of Railways, National Highways, Irrigation, Electricity, Roads and Buildings and others at MCR HRD Centre here. On the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the officials to speed up the related works and help the government to keep its promise of supplying waters to every household. Adopting new technologies keeping in view the future needs, the works should be completed on time to keep the promise, he asserted.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to wipe out the scar that completion of projects would take at least 10 to 15 years. “We have changed this system of delay and negligence and it is for the officials to ensure that land acquisition, designs, tenders and financial permissions are done on time in coordination with other departments. He asked the officials and agencies to know about the progress of the works being done at districts and asked them to remove small hurdles and hiccups to speed the works.

The Chief Minister also directed the officials to complete the construction of in-take wells, water treatment plants and laying of pipelines for the prestigious project. KCR said the officials should take precautionary measures to avoid any sort of inconvenience in the pipeline laying and distribution of waters to every household. He extended thanks to the railway officials for their cooperation of offering permissions to remove level crossing hurdles if any to consolidate the works. (NSS)
