Sr Tech Architect Consultant

Consults on complex projects and plays a lead technical role on critical projects, which may have cross-pyramid impact to provide project knowledge and expertise to key partners
Directs current system and platform analysis and leverages that information for design decisions
Creates technical solutions based on client’s needs and feasibility
Prepares recommendations for implementation of the systems solution within TTS
Provides guidance for the development of technical project design and reviews technical specifications as needed
Applies a global approach to technical solutions-both within a business area and across the enterprise
Understands interrelationships and impacts of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environment
Ensures solutions are of high quality, high performance and scalable
Creates and follows technical standards and best practices including repeatable processes and deliverables
Develops strategic plans and provides technical leadership across multiple projects end to end
Maintains a current knowledge of the technology industry and determines the impact of hardware and/or software upgrades on new and existing applications
Maintains a current understanding of the retail industry and provides a technical strategy/roadmap for determining the impact of retail trends for TTS
Evaluates vendor products for software purchases
Conducts or oversees proof-of-concept initiatives to prove out solutions
Performs R&D as needed and develops standards for new technology
Participates in project planning, estimating and costing
Communicates project status to all interested parties and ensures team is on track to satisfy client expectations
Recommends and leads technology improvements, drives innovation for the groups/pyramids
Defines, conducts and leads any internal technical training initiatives in line with the project needs
Participates and/or leads technology initiatives within TTS
Supports/Participates in any talent acquisition activities for technical talent
Assists senior leadership in building technology expertise and competency in line with the organization strategy
Identifies and escalates issues and, when necessary, pulls appropriate teams together to resolve issues
Prioritizes workload and accomplishes assignments on time, ensuring deliverables are high quality
Prepares and conducts technical instruction and mentoring for TTS team members
Completes all administration in a timely and quality manner

Development

Gather technical specifications from project team, Enterprise Architecture, and Infrastructure Design team, fully understanding requirements to ensure a high quality solution is produced
Provides technical expertise in executing application projects and development processes (requirements, design, spec, code, test, deploy, and turnover);
Performs problem analysis, identifies root causes, outlines resolution options
Lays out the design of how applications and systems should work from a technical perspective, and quickly identifies and resolves design flaws early in design life cycle
Understands application flow (data, logic, etc) in order to be a key problem solver (performance, production issues and development)
Aligns application team and the enterprise architecture team
Develops test cases/plans to verify successful implementation of system enhancements
Responsible for leading team in completion of standard development documentation and processes
Provides support (including off hours as needed) of assigned applications through turn over

Infrastructure

Provides technical leadership in platform break/fix support (ID problem, resolve). Receding role in other support phases
Provides technical leadership in executing infrastructure projects and processes (requirements, design, review, build). Growing role in Idea/concept phase. Receding role in other project phases
Leadership in infrastructure strategic planning (POC planning, business and technology trends). Growing role in strategic planning, innovation and technology mapping
Provides expertise in infrastructure hardware and software evaluation, selection and implementation
Works with development teams as single point of contact to advise application technical architecture direction and design solutions that meet development and infrastructure requirements
Demonstrates growing infrastructure technical breadth, financial and business knowledge.

Support

Leads team in resolution of large, complex production system issues
Acts as a global consultant assisting in application design and issue resolution
Proactively identifies potential issues across multiple applications and BPOs and implements solutions before business impact occurs
Recommends and drives projects or stability efforts to be completed across multiple applications and BPOs
Sets architectural standards and assesses the feasibility of architectural changes across TTS
Remains current with technology trends, selects and prototypes new technologies
Recommends solutions for exploiting new technologies or new features to existing technologies
Effectively explains technical solutions to TTS partners, business clients, and senior leadership
Provides technical mentoring to others

Requirements

Four-year college degree
12+ years systems and programming, technical support or implementation experience in either applications, technical services or telecommunications areas
Continuing education in current technologies
Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to present to technical, non-technical, and senior management audiences
Proven leadership capabilities, including interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and reasoning/analytical skills
Good negotiation skills
Good planning and organizational skills
Self-starter who requires little supervision
Works effectively with in a team
Ability to works with confidential information
Understands the retail business, technology and the application of technology to our business
