New Delhi: A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri area as she was depressed over her performance in the Class XII board exams, police said today.
According to police, the body of the girl was found hanging in the bathroom at her residence in the evening yesterday. No suicide note was found at the spot, they added.
“An inquiry has been initiated into the matter,” DCP (East) Rishi Pal said.
The girl’s relatives told police that she was depressed as she was unhappy with her performance in the recently held board exams and could have ended her life over that.
Her relatives have claimed that there was no pressure on the girl — who was extremely studious — to score high marks, the official said.
