Steps on to make PF/EPF transactions transparent: Dattatraya

Hyderabad: Union minister for labour & employment Bandaru Dattatreya today said the Centre has taken various measures to make PF/EPF transactions more transparent.
Dattatreya today held a meeting with the officials of EPFO at Barkhatpura office here and reviewed its functioning. As part of transparency, a universal account number has been developed by Shram Suvidha portal for the benefit of the workers, he said. Speaking to media after the meeting, Dattatraya said more measures would be taken for the welfare of workers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States. As per the EPFO records, there were 29,269 organizations in Telangana and 22,706 organizations in Andhra Pradesh. Telangana has some 36 lakh PF contributors and AP has 13 lakh.
Giving details of measures being taken up for the welfare of the workers, the Union minister said for the first time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the bonus ceiling has been increased and Rs 1,000 made as minimum pension.
The Union minister said if the State government provided land, the Centre would construct model housing colonies in Nizamabad, Warangal and Siddipet. EPFO offices would be opened at Uppal, LB Nagar, Rajahmundry and Kurnool. (NSS)
