Steps on to mitigate drinking water woes: KTR

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao today stated that steps have been taken to provide drinking waters in GHMC area covering twin cities.

During question hour,  KT Rama Rao, while replying to members on drinking water supply in the Council, KTR said Rs 1900 crore allotted for catering to the needs of municipalities in Greater Hyderabad limits. The HMWS&SB has been entrusted with the job of distributing drinking waters to Hyderabad and the areas covering greater limits as well as that of inside areas of outer ring road, he stated.

There is no paucity of funds and the officials were instructed to take necessary steps, the minister said. The members sought clarifications on the steps being taken by the civic body to provide safe drinking waters under GHMC area. He also said that the government has sanctioned Rs 1136 crore through a GO No 262 to resolve the drinking water problem in 190 villages facing acute water shortage. The minister also assured of necessary steps to mitigate the problem of drinking waters as the officials are ready to address the issue, he added.   (NSS)
