Steps taken on Deportation: Sushma to KTR


Responding to IT Minister KT Rama Rao plea on deportation of Telugu students from US on Jan 6, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said that she has seized the matter.
In a letter addressed to him Sushma Swaraj said that she had spoken to concerned officials in Delhi as well as in US on the deportment and embarrassment caused to the students and their families. On the issue immigration officials expressed concern and promised to avoid recurrence of such incidents while making checkups she informed to the minister. Sushma also advised that the students to carry all certificates and documents and checkup the courses and institutions in the US through seven centers set up across the nation to help and guide them. The state governments should also take precautionary measures in this regard she said. External Affairs ministry will safeguard and protect the interests of the students immigrating Sushma said, according to a press release from KTR office. (NSS)
