New Delhi: An Indian national was killed after being hit by stray bullets in Saudi Arabia, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Friday.
Citing information received from the Indian embassy in Riyadh, she said that stray bullets hit four Indians during a shootout in a security operation in Awamia, in the Eastern Province of the kingdom, on Wednesday.
“Unfortunately we lost Mohammad Avesh Khan of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh,” she tweeted.
“One Indian is being treated in a local hospital,” she added.
Sushma Swaraj also said that the Indian mission has been in touch with the deceased’s family.
“I have asked them to expedite matters and send his mortal remains at the earliest,” she said.
