Sugar prices rally up to Rs 80 a quintal strong demand

New delhi: Sugar prices rallied by Rs 80 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following brisk buying by stockists and bulk consumers coupled with lower production estimates.

Marketmen said heavy buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid speculative activity following reports of lower estimates, led to rise in the sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices spurted by Rs 80 each to settle at Rs 4,000-4,100 and Rs 3,990-4,090 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also climbed up by Rs 40 each to conclude at Rs 3,680-3,745 and Rs 3,670-3,735 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Ramala, Anupshaher, Baghpat, Morna, Nazibabad and Modinagar jumped up by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,670, Rs 3,690, Rs 3,710, Rs 3,700, Rs 3,680 and Rs 3,700 per quintal respectively.

Sugar Asmoli, Budhana, Thanabhavan, Simbholi and Dhampur also lifted up by Rs 40 each to Rs 3,720, Rs 3,710, Rs 3,700, Rs 3,730 and Rs 3,680 per quintal.
