Sugar prices up on rising demand, tight supply

New Delhi: Sugar prices spurted by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid restricted arrivals. Marketmen said tight supplies from mills against better offtake by bulk consumers and retailers pushed up sweetener prices. Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices enquired higher by Rs 20 each to settle at 4,050-4,150 and Rs 4,040-4,140 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 also traded higher Rs 20 each to Rs 3,740-3,830 and Rs 3,730-3,820 per quintal. In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli and Baghpat surged up by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,810 and Rs 3,760, while Kinnoni, Asmoli, Dhanora, Anupshaher, Morna, Sakoti, Modinagar and Nazibabad also moved up by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,830, Rs 3,800, Rs 3,750, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,750, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,750 and Rs 3,740 per quintal.

Following are today’s quotations (in Rs per quintal) Sugar retail markets – Rs 45.00-50.00 per kg.
Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 4,050-4,150, S-30 Rs 4,040-4,140.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,740-3,830, S-30 Rs 3,730-3,820.
