Survey on to include 35 Cr workers in social security schemes: Dattatraya

Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya informed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ESIC has taken up a nationwide survey to include 35 crore workers from organized and unorganized sectors in the social security schemes in the coming two years. The survey will be undertaken in North-Eastern states and Andaman Islands too.

He said that the nationwide survey is to identify the new beneficiaries of ESIC. As per the latest findings, around 2 lacs new insured persons added to existing 11lac ESIC beneficiaries list in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states. Dattatreya also informed that the existing dispensaries will be upgraded to 6-bedded hospitals and more services will be added. He informed that during the ESIC review meeting on February 12 deliberations will be held on these decisions.

The Central Minister informed that the Sanathnagar ESIC hospital Medical College would be started from this September. Special quota will be provided for the Children of the ESIC beneficiaries. The required MCI inspection has been done and the faculty will be ready and150 more beds will be added at the 200 bedded Nacharam and the services like cardiology, Nephrology and cancer treatment to be started to make it as super specialty hospital. A new diagnostic centre will be started at the 6-bedded Jeedimetla. The 50 bedded Warangal ESIC hospital capacity will be increased to 100-beds, said the Minister. More services will be started at the Nizamabad ESIC hospital.

Dattatraya also informed that medical ambulances will be launched for the construction workers, cine workers, auto drivers and rikshaw pullers in the city. For beedi workers a 100-bedded hospital will be constructed in Sircilla and 50 bedded hospital in Nirmal towns of Telangana state. There are proposals under consideration to construct the similar hospital in Siddipet town. The Minister also informed that TB vaccines will be provided for the beedi workers especially for the women as precautionary measures.

In the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh ESIC hospitals will be constructed in Vijayanagaram with 100 beds, Kakinada-100 beds, Tirupathi-100 beds capacity. In Paidi Bivavaram of Srikakulam district a new model 10-bedded hospital and diagnostic centre will be constructed. A super specialty hospital in Vizag with 300 beds and a 100 bedded super specialty hospital will be constructed at the new capital city Amaravathi. (INN)
