Sushma Swaraj arrives in Nepal to attend SAARC ministerial meeting

Pokhara(Nepal): Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrived here today to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) ministerial meeting where she will be meeting Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on the sidelines of the meet.

Swaraj will hold bilateral meeting with Aziz in Pokhara on Thursday.

Swaraj is expected to raise the Pathankot terror attack with Aziz during the meeting.

This development comes amid the stalled Foreign Secretary-level talks between both nations following the impasse over the probe of the January 2016 Pathankot Air Base terror attack.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee of the SAARC which is a Foreign Secretaries level Forum is being held in Pokhara , is being attended by Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar.

These meetings will prepare the ground for the session of Council of Ministers which will be attended by Foreign Ministers of SAARC countries.

Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry exchanged courtesies at the SAARC dinner last night. (ANI)
