Syed Viqaruddin didn’t turn up for Award due to ill health, Dy CM to personally present the award

Hyderabad: Chief Editor Rehnuma-e-Deccan, Mr. Syed Viqaruddin Quadri was conferred Maulana Abul Kalam Azad National Award. The award was to be presented to him on the occasion of Minority Welfare Day but Mr. Viqaruddin could not attend the function due to ill health.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Secretary Director Urdu Academy Prof. S A Shukoor will personally visit him at his residence and present the award. The award includes Rs 1.25 cash, a citation and a memento.

Mr. Syed Viqaruddin is counted among the veteran editors of the sub continent. The Rehnuma-e-Deccan is heading towards its centenary year under his editorship. Rehnuma-e-Deccan has completed 95 years of its publication. Mr. Syed Viqaruddin is also the chairman of Indo-Arab League and he has played important role for Palestinian cause. He has bagged several wards on national and international level and has visited 22 countries.

Mr. Viqaruddin has been presented ‘Star of Morocco’ award by king of Morocco and ‘Star of Jerusalem’ – the highest civilian honour of Palestine by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He was also conferred ‘Makhdoom Award’ by Urdu Academy.
