Tanzania posted a convincing 3-0 victory over Malaysia in their bronze-medal play-off match to finish third in the AIFF Youth Cup (U-16) here today.
Tanzania scored through Mohammed Rashid Abdallah (14th minute), Shabani Zuberi Ada (41st) and Muhsini Malika Makame (45+2) to lead 3-0 at half time at the Tilak Stadium here.
Tanzania played like a cohesive unit with the midfield and strikers combining well. Speed was their forte as they often caught their rival defence off guard, running from the flanks. Maulid Lembe gave the first warning when his fierce long ranger went inches over the bar.
Tanzania shot into the lead in the 14th minute when Muhsini Makame, who worked his way inside the box, passed the ball to Abdallah. Abdallah beat a couple of defenders to essay a firm right footer that found far corner of the net. Tanzania had a chance to double the lead in the 34th minute but Mohammed Rashid failed to score with only keeper at his mercy.
Ada then increased the lead in the 41st minute when he found the roof of the net. Makame made it 3-0 with a clever shot from inside the box. The second half was mostly confined to midfield with both the teams looking tired playing in hot weather conditions.
