Tata Trusts, Jain Irrigation Ltd. tie up for tech advancements

New Delhi : Tata Trusts and Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. (JISL) have signed an MoU to work towards improving agriculture extension, agribusiness, and research and development systems in multiple geographies across India.

The collaboration between Tata Trusts (recognized for their long-standing efforts in natural resource management and agriculture) and Jain Irrigation (a pioneering manufacturer of hi-tech agricultural inputs and a total agri-service provider) will serve to strengthen the field and market based livelihood of farmers.

The focus areas of this ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ include developing end-to-end value chains for agricultural products, converge best agricultural technologies to scale up precision farming systems, improve irrigation efficiencies through micro irrigation, improve availability of water through collective irrigation systems and promote ecologically and economically sustainable farming.

Tata Trusts and Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. (JISL) will jointly work upon improving water use efficiencies, popularizing high-tech plant production technologies, increasing use of modern technologies in agriculture amongst others.

Tata Trusts is recognized for an existing series of regional programmes in agriculture and for assisting farmers in to agribusiness development in multiple geographies of India.

They are currently involved in crop demonstrations, strengthening of community based organizations, agro-forestry, organic farming, technology convergence, irrigation development, non-renewable energy, system of crop intensification, promotion of high value crops, entrepreneur development, improving markets etc.

The Natural Resource Management and Livelihoods (NRML) portfolio of Tata Trusts strives to address the issues of sustainable management of natural resources and enhancement of crop productivity and profitability and associated agribusiness development through community based organizations. (ANI)
