TDP demands direct election for GHMC Mayor

Telangana TDP Working President A. Revanth Reddy on Friday demanded that the State Government go for direct election of GHMC Mayor.

Addressing a press conference here, Revanth Reddy expressed fears that the TRS would resort to horse trading if it fails to get required numbers to stake its claim on the post of Mayor. TRS will openly purchase corporators of other parties to capture the top post. Therefore, it is strongly advisable that direct election be held for the post of GHMC Mayor, he said.

Revanth Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his son and Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao have been trying to cheat the Seemandhra people by calling them brothers. He said that it was the same TRS Government which removed 26 BC castes from the State list as most of them hailed from Seemandhra. He asked whether the TRS Government would re-include those castes in the BC list.

The TDP leader asked people of Seemandhra region living in city not to trust the TRS leaders and their fake promises. (INN)
