TDP MP opposes subsidies by State Govts

TDP MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy has strongly criticised the political parties and their governments for launching welfare schemes aimed at getting votes.

Speaking to media persons in Anantapur on Sunday, Diwakar Reddy condemned the distribution of subsidies by the respective governments. He said such schemes hamper the development of States and the country. He said it was ridiculous to provide one kg of rice for Re. 1 to a person who spends at least Rs. 5 for a cup of tea every day. He also opposed supply of free power to farmers. He said nominal charges should be collected from all farmers.

Diwakar Reddy said that the governments should focus on linking of rivers to increase the irrigation potential. (INN)
