A 12-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped and murdered by two youths in a village in Katra Bazar area here, police said today.
The incident took place last evening when the girl was returning home after grazing cattle and was raped by two youths, who also killed her and dumped her body in a cane field, they said.
Her body was later recovered by family members who went searching for her when she did not return home.
According to the police, an FIR was registered in this regard by victim’s father against Neeraj and Mohit, who have been arrested.
Police said probe is on and the body has been sent for postmortem.
